So when I create a style based on a Korg or other auto-play keyboard, I don't just import the MIDI styles, that would result in something boring.

I take advantage of this when converting and write hundreds of patterns. But it takes writing hundreds of patterns. The result is that can BiaB allow for much less repetition and much more musically appropriate patterns in most common musical situations. So the keyboard plays that same 2 to 8 bar pattern over and over and over and over. Because the chords are played in real time, the keyboard doesn't know what you are going to do next, doesn't remember what you played last, and how the chord you are playing fits in the context of the chord progression. This is only the simplest example, there are plenty more like Interval to next chord, Roman Numeral Mask, Half Octave Range, Chord Type, which beat of the measure the pattern starts on, and so on. So in BiaB I can write patterns that allow the bass to 'walk' from the V7 to the I chord. In BiaB I can and do write up to 400 different patterns with variations for specific musical situations and more than one pattern for the same situation as well.īecause BiaB knows the chords in advance, it knows when a V7 chord is followed by a I at a part marker. The styles in the Korg keyboards are from 2 to 8 measure patterns that repeat over and over and over again with no variations for some of specific musical situations that the StyleMaker in BiaB allows. Jim is right, I do have some styles based on Korg auto-arranging keyboards.
